Meet Monty!!!

Please, let me introduce you to my newest buddy! (well, kind of...)
His name is Monty, and he's a little bit shy. Please make him feel welcome.

I made Monty one Saturday, when I was feeling bored.
He has bright blue eyes,
A yellow/orange, spotty suit,
And a black bow tie.

He loves fishing and horse riding,
Cooking and playing the piano.
He likes lots of things.
He is very talented.

But, like I said before,
He is quite shy.
He can also be timid, stubborn,
And a bit wimpy.

But I'm sure you will love him,
Like I do.
He is very good friend.
Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy.

(Yet another) website review!!!

Hurrah! I'm so happy to be writing yet another website reveiw!
And this time, it's Rookie!
This website (www.rookiemag.com) is the website for a teen mag created by the well known fashion guru Tavi Gevinson, who shot to fame at the age of 11 with her Style Guru fashion blog.

Rookie features amazing and informative articles about life art and craft, inspiration, DIY, nostalgia, cool ideas to decorate your room and much more. All of the articles and the layout of the website reflect Tavi Gevinson's cool, unusual and quirky style.

This si the Rookie logo:
I actually think that Rookie, being a long-time favourite of mine, was part of what gave Priscilla and I inspiration to start this blog. I am actually flicking between Rookie and Happy Hamburgers right this minute!

I suggest you definitely, totally, most absolutely check out Rookie.
It's pretty, it's cool, it's inspirational, and what can I say? It was created by Tavi Gevinson. THE Tavi Gevinson. Yeah.

Its a little blurry, but it says: Broadford '85.
Its one of my special favourites, which is pretty good considering I own over 100 badges!

How To Make Gorgeous Glitter Feathers!

Don't you think these feathers are god damn beautiful?

Ripped-style leggings + How To Make

Got an old pair of plain leggings? Here's how to make them AWESOME!!!

U Will Need:
- Plain pair of leggings
- Fabric scissors
- A pencil (optional)

How 2 Make Them:
1. Put your leggings on so you have a basic idea of where you need to cut slits (you can use a pencil if you want).
2. Now just cut! If you want to make oval-ish shaped slits, pinch the fabric and cut across.

And that's it!

Half way there:                                                                Finished product:

You can wear your leggings with heaps of other items, like denim jackets, leather boots, Converse or Vans and anything with a bit of glitter on it!

AMAZING BOOK REPORT!!!

Ok, lets just go over all the stuff we've covered so far on this little blog:
- Art and craft
- Website reviews
- How-tos

So it's kind of about time that we did a Book Review! Yay, 'cos everyone likes books! (I think...)

Just yesterday I picked up a pretty sweet book called 'Patterns in Fashion' by Macarena San Martin.
I picked it up because it had translations in French and German, which is kinda fancy, and it comes with a cool CD with 50 PATTERNS/DESIGNS!!!

Anyway, so I bought the book (for $19.99) and I opened it to find pages of gorgeous fabric designs and outfits which featured them! Starry eyed with amazement, I flicked through to find EVEN MORE PATTERNS! AND MORE! AND MORE!
Ok, I think I'm getting a little bit overwhelmed with happiness.
But surely all you nice, creative, fashion-loving people out there can understand what I am trying to describe? This book is like the Bible.

Ooops, I almost forgot!
It looks like this:

And now I'm just gonna show you guys my three favourite patterns, just so you get an idea of whats inside:

U BETTER BUY 'PATTERNS IN FASHION'!!!

Wesite Reveiw! (yay!)

Hey, Priscilla and I have been having a VERY SERIOUS TALK, and we have decided, as a new feature for Happy Hamburgers, to add super awesome websire reveiws! Awesome!
To start off this feature, I have taken the liberty to write a post about a little, lovely website called Frankie. (www.frankie.com.au)

Frankie is in fact an Australian magazine, which focuses on craft, music, fashion and loads more interesting things! What I am reveiwing is the magazine's WEBSITE. Just so you know.

Like the magazine, the Frankie website is very beautiful. As soon as you hit 'enter', you are face to face with a whirl of bright colour and floral print. Trust me, it is very nice!

The website mainly contains stories and extras from the magazine, which currently looks like this:
Its nice isn't it? This issue was, in fact, the 50th issue, so the cover was beautifully made and textured to look and feel as if it were embroidered. Frankie.com has a little icon with an image of the current issue. If you click on it you get a little sneak peek! You can also access bit from previous issues, subscribe, shop online, download snazzy wallpapers, sign up to their e-newsletter and find them on Facebook and Twitter!!!

All mixed together with a generous amount of pretty pictures, like these:

So if what you have read so far tickles your fancy, visit www.frankie.com.au today!

Pencil tins + How To Make Them! (yay)

Check out these really sweet pencil holders I made on the weekend! If you like them too, here's how to make 'em!

Difficulty: (=^;^=) (=^;^=) (=^;^=) 3 out of 5 kitty cats

FOR THE TWO SMALLER ONES:
U will need:
Two baked beans tins
Some brown butchers paper (or a brown lunch bag!)
Some pretty patterned paper (i used pink leopard print and white/yellow zigzag paper)
Double-sided tape (you can get this at most craft stores!)

How To Make Them:
1. Using a tape measure, measure the width around the tin. Then, using a ruler, measure the height of the tin.
2. Cut the brown paper to these sizes. TIP: Cut off a little bit extra just in case!
3. Cover the tin in brown paper by wrapping it around the tin. This might be a little bit tricky!
4. Do the same with the patterned paper, but make sure it is cut half the height of the tin.
5. Stick it on the top half of the tin, over the brown paper. Voila!

FOR THE BIGGER ONE:
U will need:
A large tin (like a Milo tin)
Patterned paper (I used floral!)

How To Make It:
It is exactly the same as the smaller tin, except you don't need the brown paper and the tin will obviously be bigger, so the paper will need to be bigger too!

Cute!

Very cute One Direction cartoon which I drew myself!
I swear I didn't trace it, although I got the idea from the original pic on the interwebs.

Badge hats are COOL!

What was once a small hobby suddenly turned into a HUGE COLLECTION!
My vast collection of badges needed a home, so I stuck 'em on a hat!
I remember once going down Brunswick Street (Fitzroy) and seeing lots of people staring at the 'thing' on my head.
Well I don't care! I love my badges and I am proud of them!!!
If you would like to start a badge collection, you can pick some up from pretty much any market for around $2.
BADGES RULE! yolo

My Pinboard + How To Make One!!

THIS IS MY PINBOARD!! I love it alot, and it inspires me to do AWESOME STUFF!!
If you think my pinboard is pretty snazzy too, HERE IS HOW TO MAKE ONE!

Difficulty: (=^;^=) (=^; 1.5 out of 5 kitty cats

U will need:
A cheap pinboard, which you can get from a craft store or a discount store (I got mine from Spotlight for about $10! Love a bargain!)
Some stuff that inspires you and can easily be stuck onto your pinboard.

How 2 Make It:
1. The first step is definitely the most fun! Here you have to decorate your pinboard with all your crap (haha kidding, I am sure your stuff is lovely!) See below for some ideal objects to put on your board.

2. Now all you have to do is secure it to a wall with some picture hanging strips which you can find at craft stores or maybe even supermarkets, I think! If you can't decide where to hang your board, see below for ideas!

PLACES TO HANG A PINBOARD:
Above your desk
On your door, so you can be inspired when you wake up!
Above your bed (but make sure you secure the board well because you don't want it falling during the night! Ouchies!

THINGS TO PUT ON A PINBOARD:
Feathers
Photos of your buddies and family
Origami (if you look closely, you can see an origami penguin, heart and windmill on mine!)
A dream-catcher (I love these!)
Neclaces (they add a bit of bling!)
Perfume samples (sounds weird, I know, but at least they smell good)
Ribbons (this could mean the present-type ribbons or the award-type ribbons. Or both!)
